In order to make sense of the info on government ammo buying, you should know that only the military gets thier ammo from Gov. only contractors, such as Lake City, WCC, and so on. All non military government agencies have to get contracts from commerial ammo makers such as Federal Cartridge, Remington, Winchester, and so on. The one point six million cartidges the Homelandsecurity bought is from a commerial company and as such has an impact on how much ammo from that maker gets to the commerial stores. I beieve that if Some ammo maker like Remington has a contract for a small amount of ammo from a government agency and a large contract from Walmart, Midway, Graf"s, or whatever, market pressures will make sure Remington will fill the large one first. Money talks, and when the market demands increase the value or profit of ammo, the maker is going where the most money is. Contrary to popular belief, most government agencies do not have an unlimited buget for ammo and will suffer in a biding war. Just my 2 cents. John
