A while ago everyone was warning Lanse not to weld or mess with a compressor tank because of the dangers involved and now someone that doesn't know how to set up his 110 welder is getting advice on how to potentially blow himself and anyone else nearby up. Air compressor tanks are ASME certified and built by certified pressure welders for a reason. If you have to ask how to repair one, you shouldn't even be considering repairing it. They are a high pressure vessel that could have fatal results if they exploded. It doesn't matter if it's a 10 year old or a 70 year old that wants to try repair it. If an air compressor tank is rusted out and/or leaking anywhere other than at a fitting, that could be safely repaired, it should be replaced, period! What's good advice for Lanse should be good advice for anyone else attempted something similar. I am baffled by the completely contradictory advice given to Lanse. Replace the tank! Dave
