There were no springs or holes changed from where they were before the rod broke. Only two things can be different, the lenght of the rod and the adjustment screw on the carb where the rod connects. I didn't change that from where it was when I got it new. I shortened the rod about 1/8" so it would go into the governor top off set hole without moving the gov lever. It acts just like the governor isn't working at all, which led me to think the over-reving broke something. I have a book which I haven't dug out because I've had heat sickness.
