We found another issue last week that helped explain further how modern view posts were not being threaded into classic. People have reported this from time to time as a thread being spread out across the forum, rather than grouped under the original post it should have been. This makes it the third reason it can happen. This particular reason is now fixed.
This fixes another problem that was reported, that of having the wrong "Reply to" header line shown in classic.
Turns out this particular problem started by my turning off quoting from modern in classic. It also turned off the ability for modern to figure out where the post belonged and who it was replying to.
