OK...Take dist cap off and take the wire out of the middle that goes to the coil. Leave the wire in the coil. now, look closely at the points and condenser to make sure none of the wires are touching ground where they are not supposed to. If all looks good there (here is where ya got to pay attention to what you are doin) Look to see that the points are closed....if not turn the engine over a little bit till they are closed. Turn the ignition on and gently open the points with a plastic handled screwdriver. You should see a faint little spark at the points gap. If you do then with another insulated screwdriver or appropriate INSULATED device get the end of that wire coming off of the coil near 1/8-1/4 inch from the block or another good ground and while holding it there gently open the points. You should get a nice blue spark every time you open the points (assuming the coil wire is that 1/8-1/4 distance away from the ground) If you have arrived at this point and have a hot spark you likely have a bad distributor cap or fouled plugs. If you didn't get spark perhaps the condenser in the distributor is bad. That is the down and dirty way to troubleshoot. Try it out and post back your findings so we can narrow it down. Andy
