I recently bought a '47 Allis B good condition, now running. I am replacing the underhood muffler with the thru hood unit from Tractor Supply.
The old one was siezed in place so I removed the manifold, cut the muffler off then ripped the remaining nipple, crushed and pulled it. This worked well and did not damage the thin cast iron manifold.
My Question is how do you deal with the thru hood muffler design with regards to future need to remove the hood? The exhaust hole in hood will not fit over the muffler body. Would you guys recommend flanging it near the manifold under the hood? or would some never seez around the end suffice?
