I swung by the IH dealer today and I see he had a 706 sitting in the used row so I did a little investigation. It has a 7000 serial number which makes it a 1964. But the kicker is it has a german diesel with a turbo on it. The sales guy told me it came stock that way. I told him he was full of it and walked out. I know they used that engine in a lot of different tractors and combines but does anyone out there know when they started using them? I always thought it was around 1968. Am I mistaken? I know it is a good engine but I think the dealers trying t pull the wool over somebodys eyes. I would appreciate some response. Thanks
