Not speaking for Brad although I will be helping him at Mid A pull in a capacity yet to be determined. We here in Pa. had some problems in the carb area with one in particular running a huge airplane carb of two throat design. There has to be a little limits somewhere and Brad's rules have produced some very even classes. As far as I know there are no downdrafts being run here and if so would be in clear violation of the rules. I guess if you are going to put a down draft on a 4 barrel is the logical progression! However, people are on the honor system as we don't pull side panels. As part of my belief system I would not bring a tractor to a pull that does not meet the rules and hope others would take the same approach.
AFA the JD's are concerned, I would guess as they came from the factory in certain series with a dual throat side draft carb that would be considered stock and I doubt if anyone would quibble about their use even on models not so equipped from the factory. Here again I am not speaking for Brad in this matter but our pull is not built on picking people's tractors apart but being very mindful to try to give everyone a place to pull with tractors of similar capabilities.
