Could be, I don't use cheap paint, even with lead in it doesn't last long. When alkyd enamel/acrylic lacquer were used on factory painted cars they faded badly in a couple of years. Could be retained with wax but it eventually gave up. Modern paint is immeasurably better, lead or not. I don't worry about lead or iso's because I use the proper protection. That said the acrylic modified alkyd enamel paints sold by tractor dealers aren't that bad.
