Case DC paint

I'm attempting to repaint my Grandfather's Case DC.

My understanding is that Flambeau Red is the color it's supposed to be.

However, after power washing it, it shows a much lighter shade of orange.

I have already painted some of the easily removable parts with Majic's "Case Orange" as it closely matches the color that is on most of the tractor already. I attached a photo that shows what I have now.

The hood and grille are what I have painted in the "Case Orange", while the radiator surround, steering arm, rear fenders and rims are in what I believe my Grandfather has repainted in the past, Flambeau Red. Also note that the steering knuckle, oil pan covers and the majority of the rest of the tractor are in what I believe to be the original color - this lighter orange.

I guess what my question is, do I repaint it in Flambeau Red, as I'm told it's supposed to be, or do I try to match what the tractor appears to have originally been and continue with the "Case Orange" that I have started? The paint that my Grandfather has done does not really match what I feel this tractor should be.

This second image shows what the hood looked like before I painted it, I'm assuming it's Flambeau Red, while the side of the engine is in the original color.

Today's Featured Article - Fire in the Field A hay fire is no laughing matter-well, maybe one was! And a good life-lesson, too. Following World War II many farm boys returned home both older and wiser. One such man was my employer the summer I was sixteen. He was a farmer by birth and a farmer by choice, and like many returning soldiers, he was our silent hero: without medals or decorations, but with a certain ability to survive. It was on his farm that I learned to use the combination hand clutch and brake on a John D ... [Read Article]
