Ditto on not using Valspar paint. It is the worst alkyd paint I've ever used. I painted a Kubota tractor with it one time and within a month I could see it start to fade. In two years it was more white than orange and dried out and cracked where in the sun most. I do use Valspar's hardener in other brands of paint when I'm using an alkyd. It will make the paint perform like the old lead based paint. Just one note: These paint hardeners contain isocyanides so only paint in a well ventilated area and wear a chemical respirator and throw the charcoal canisters away after painting the tractor. If a person was going to paint a lot with these, they should wear a fresh air supplied respirator.
I only paint with automotive paints now since my experience with the Kubota. It's a lot of work to paint a tractor and I want it to last but not everyone can justify spending hundreds of dollars to paint a tractor. If you are going to use an alkyd paint I would recommend that you go to a major brand paint company like Sherwin Williams and use their paint. You will probably have to get one can of rattle can paint from TS to make a sample so they will have something to computer match.

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
