What kind of primer to buy

I have a 1941 farmall a and im going to use the electorlysis on the hood and ever thing and i know i need to prime it right when i get it out and dry'd off but i have no clue what type of primer to buy im a lost child lol i painted the bumper on my old truck with rustoleum it looks like u can put your hand thrue it but i messd up by puting over 15 layers for paint on it i guess you lurn from your mess up's. Im only 18 years old trying to get the "a" runing once more so i need all the tips or whatever to help me. Thanks all Carson
