Most Gibsons had a cut down Chrysler rear end. If the axle has a large nut holding the drum on, you have to get a heavy-duty three legged drum puller. A good rental place or parts store should have one to rent. These are single-purpose pullers - be sure you get the proper one. To use it, take the nut off the end of the axle, turn it over, and put it back on the axle that way, turning it on until the edge of the nut is flush with the end of the axle. This keeps the end of the axle from flaring out when you tighten the puller. Put the three legs of the puller onto three of the five wheel nuts or studs, tighten them in place. Then screw the center bolt of the puller down tight - real tight. That's why there is a wing to put on that center bolt. Whack the heck out of it to tighten the center bolt, then hit the center bolt with a heavy hammer. One good whack and the hub and drum will pop loose. IMPORTANT! Everything must be very tight before you hit that center bolt! Once the drum comes off the axle, take off the puller, remove the axle nut, and the drum will fall off in your hands.

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
