From the number of post it seems that a lot of owners have trouble with the hydraulics on Longs. I hope someone can help me here. The problem is that the 3 Point Hitch will not lift a load. Here is what I have done so far: Added a new filter, Changed the oil. Changed the pump, Put a hose in the remote to bleed air, Used the bleeder valve to bleed air, Put a new O-ring on the filter housing.
When I changed the pump (filled it with oil) I have a small tater plow on the back and it came up at low RPM. That lasted for about 1/2 hour. Now I have to run the RPM up to get it to come up. When the lift is up, it will stay up, it does not bleed down. I hooked a 6' box blade up and the most it will come up is a couple of inches even at high RPM. Of note, I blew the rear end so after the repair checked the filter and of course it was full of crap. I cleaned it but noticed that the washer on the end of the filter was crimped like it had not been seated properly, so I tried to straighten it up and put it back in (my thinking is that this is only a seal for the filter and this would only allow dirty oil to bypass the filter and chould not cause lift issues at this time) and I'll replace it later.
I was told that because the lift does not bleed off that the big O-ring under the seat was good?? Any other suggestions?

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
