I just had the PTO clutch repaired in my Oliver 550. Now, when I start the tractor, the throttle will not stay as set. No matter where I move the lever to, it automatically moves back to idle as if there were a spring pushing it back. It wasn't doing this before the split.
Also, when I pull the PTO lever back, I should feel some kind of locking action, right? As it is after the repair, the lever never really locks. Within a few seconds, the PTO lever moves forward and the PTO shaft stops rotating. I am pulling back hard, much harder than the 28lbs required and much harder than I used to pull. Is the locking tension set too high? The mechanic doing the repair is not available for a few days. Thought I would ask more experienced tractor owners.
