'47 AG 6 dozer, need big help!

Greetings all. I posted about a week ago but see no such post, so I will try again. I have come into an Oliver AG 6, about 1947 or 8. The fellow decided he was never going to get it going. Believes engine may be cracked from poor antifreeze. Seems to turn over by hand. It was running about 3 years ago. BAttery cables have been replaced who knows how namy times, so.. Is it a POSITVE or NEGITIVE ground? Could it have been altered from original issue? How can I tell? What can get ruined if I hook up a battery wrong way to ground? My intention is to get it under roof ASAP so I can get after the tracks, etc. I will be asking a lot more questions before I am done. Thanks all d
