Chris, the original rims on my 1948 CK 30 measure only 9 inches wide with the tires off, that is the inside measurement from bead lip to bead lip. I installed new 11.2 x 38 rear tires on them and they fit real nice. Actually, the rims had 12.4x38 tires on them and they fit nice too. The key measurement is not the total width of the rim, but the width between the lips where the tire edges go, if that makes sense.
