I had that happen to me one time on an 1850. The keyed drive end twisted off where it is attached to the tach drive. I would take the cable off at the drive end. If you can not loosen the cable end threaded nut(not sure what is called), take the four bolts out that hold the tach drive. Remove and pull the drive and cable out so you can use a pair of vise grips and separate the drive from the cable. Also, have had the tach drive strip its gears if the tractor has a lot of hours on it. They are around used, but kind of expensive. Had quite a few 4 digit tractor over the years, and have never lubed them.
