Grew up running an 1800 series "a" gasser. The other poster is correct that the series "a" 1800 was the most fuel efficient gas model tractor ever tested at Nebraska. We pulled 4-16 mounted oliver plow with that 1800 and then dad found a 5-16 semi-mounted oliver plow that could either drop a bottom or could be made into 14" bottoms too if desired - we never did either. That oliver pulled those 5-16.

Wish I still had that tractor as it is my alltime favorite tractor to work ground with even over the INT 1066 we got later which was nice but always liked that Oliver. Sold everything back when dad died back in the early 1990's.

Now for the bad news: Once the hydra power was added to the series "b" and series "c" then the fuel consumption increases considereably. Granted the power increased slightly too but the fuel efficiency went down.

I could be off base, but in my opinion that hydropower must rob some fuel efficiency. Even the last Oliver and White diesels with the hydrapowers are not anywhere near as fuel efficient as diesels from other manufacturers of the same eras. Take it a step further look at a 1850 with the perkins diesel and then look at say a Massey Furgeson 1100 that also used the same basic perkins diesel engine. The Massey is way more fuel efficient. Only explanation that I can think of is that hydropower robs fuel economy - thehydrapower is durable though.

In short, If that 1800 was a series "a" then I think your fuel use would be almost identical to your 1650 gasser. Since it is a later series then it will use more fuel but it will have a tad bit more power than your 1650. Sounds like you made a good buy so I would not fret it too much.
