There is a product called Freeze-12 which runs at the same pressure and provides similar performance to R-12. I have converted several systems from R-12 to R-134. The results have been marginal. R-134 runs at higher head pressures, and will toast some compressors designed for R12. A 400 psi cut out switch should be installed to protect the compressor and refrigerant hoses. The condensers designed for an R12 system do not provide cooling for R134. The result is reduced cooling capacity. To really convert an r12 system may require changing the condenser, compressor, and expansion valve. Or, just use your original system with Freeze 12 with no reduced performance.
