The magnetic switch is pretty much the same as ones used on Ford Cars and Trucks of the '60s and '70s to run the starter. Nothing special at all. But I would say it might just be that the button on the dash is shorted also. That would energize the solenoid and drain the battery. However, if the heater in the manifold was working, it would not last as long as a few days. Probably not even an hour. So maybe the solenoid is energizing, but trying to power a burned out element. More checking is in order. Does the manifold get hot? If the heater is energized, the manifold will be noticeably warm!
