My 1600 finally worked its way up to the top of the fix it list along with one of our chopper boxes, so I figure I'll ask a few questions before I dig in.
Is the anything I should look out for when pulling the unit? Do I pull the top cover off it, or just pull the whole thing right away?
I know I gotta pull the PTO shaft out so I can get the pump out.
Also, did the earlier models use a different pump than the late models, or do they all use the same pump? I thought someone mentioned the earlier models used a different one, and if that's the case, mine is an early 63 model so it's an early one. I know I already had that problem on the water pump once.
I still gotta order it, but I'm gonna do a little looking the next day or 2 and see what I can come up with, and who's got the best price/quality.
Any tips are welcome. I've helped my brother with the hydraulics a little bit on his 550, but that one was a little bit lighter and the 2 of us lifted it by hand. I already have the engine hoist back by the tractor for this one...
