I had my engine worked on at a speed shop. They do good work but forgot to check the head. It was warped slightly. I had them deck it down and used head gasket sealer and now it is ok. A lot of these tractors were mis-used and allowed to overheat, causing the head to warp. Use a new thermostat and check your radiator for proper flow. It is hard to overheat an N. Use new head gasket bolts (grade five) and retorque after running for a few hours. My N had a twisted exhaust manifold it had gotten so hot.
