Hi guys,
I'm doing an engine overhaul on a 2N. When I removed the governor, I noticed 1/8"-1/4" of play along the axis of the governor. I've found no mention or specification for this in my FO-4 manual. I also looked at the governor rebuild tutorial at the N tractor club site. It shows a fiber washer between the Drive Gear and the Ball Bearing Base, but the FO-4 does not. Which one is correct? Could this be where the end play is coming from?
I'm also trying to decide if it's more cost effective to rebuild this unit or to buy a complete new one... The balls and lower race have pretty large flats worn into them, and I'm not too sure about the condition of the rest of it (Bearings, bushing, etc.) I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
