Trouble shoot then parts NEVER just throw parts at the problem or you will cause your self more problems. #1 check your spark the moment it dies and make sure it is a good blue/white and will jump a 1/4 inch gap or more. If spark is good go to the carb if bad then try a hot wire from the battery ignition side to the coil ignition side and if it run fine then your problem is from the coil back if still not spark in the distributor. Round coils ALMOST never go bad
