I'm quite happy to let the dealership take care of my daily driving vehicles. I've been going to the same one since 1997, and the service manager knows me. It's a Chev dealer, but I still take my wife's Vibe there. They stock the oil filter, which no Chev uses, specially for me.
Only once did I feel I got a bad deal ($600 bucks to change a pair of shocks on a Chevy Cavalier :o ), and when I talked to the manager about it, he fixed it right away.
I like working on the 8N, and on my '49 CJ3A (which I have stripped to the ground and am starting to rebuild from scratch), but I have no desire to work on modern cars! The one thing I do myself is the switch from winter to all-season tires and back. (I have two sets of tires mounted on rims for both my truck and my wife's car.)
