I have a dearborn and will be replacing the cables. Currently there is an eyebolt on each front bracket and then the cable is looped through the eye of the bolt. The eye of the bolt is on top of the bracket. The cable should be in a sleeve on the bottom of the bracket and the sleeve should go up through the bracket. The top of the sleeve should hold a threaded rod and topped with a washer and nut. This was the original way of connecting it.
