I asked why at a local tire store and got the answer that the pressure stays constant with heat and cold changes. Makes sense with the aircraft tires, to a point. It's colder but the outside pressure is much less???
I used nitrogen for air horns at football games on a "victory bell" trailer because it was cheaper to buy the bottles full at the welding supply than compressed air. (I'm talking about bottles with 2000 PSI regulated to about 90 PSI or so).
I suppose the cleaner aspect might make sense but that ain't the cleanest environment to start with.
