I have been selling a pocket sharpener at shows for many years..have sharpened countless knives..I can tell the hardness of the alloy,simply by sharpening it..seems the german metals are the hardest..the usa made, hold an edge the best..the others are good for cleaning fingernails and pealing fruit..most guys that want a razor edge wear beards..dont shave with them..my sharpener uses the finest quality of tungsten carbide..the metal smith here probably use it in their milling machine and lathes ..end of commercial..i have many many knives..my all time favorite is an old Old Timer..phil
