Mike........several things just jump off'n the page at me; spluttin' after awhile......LOW gas fuel level, tank holds 10-gals including 1-gal of reserve. Fuel tank breather clogged, just loosen the gascap. Read the round wheel on yer glass filter under the tank, 2-turns for normal operation, 4-turns for access to 1-gal reserve. (which probably has WATER in it) ALWAYS turn yer roundy-wheel OFF so the gas don't drain thru yer carby and cause hydro-lock of yer engine pistons. UNDERSTAND???
2nd thing, ennytime you have troubles starting yer engine, change yer sparkies.......NO ARGUE!!! You FLOODED yer sparkies and they won't sparkle. Don't throw yer FLOODED sparkies away; clean'n'dry 'em, one-atta-time in HOT running engine and save'um fer the next time. (and there will be a NEXT time) Recommend AutoLite 437's gapped 0.025". Champion H-10's ain't worth chit.
3rd; pull yer starter motor 8"-screws 1/2-in and wire-brush the H3LL outta the gap. Now re-tighten yer 8"-screws.
4th; keep yer itchy-twitchy fingers off'n them handy-dandy carb tweek-ums. Iff'n you done fiddled with'em, ASK and we'll tell you HOW to re-diddle yer carby.
5th; do NOT try to adjust yer points (0.015") on the weird 4-nipple frontmount dizzy. Ittza 2-bolt, 15-min job to REMOVE the dizzy and change and adjust the points (0.015") on the kitchen table. Just un-snapple yer capple and letter dangle. Installation is a reversal of the removal ...except... finger start the 2-bolts, and install the rotor. Rotate the rotor until the OFF-SET tang drops into the camshaft OFF-SET drive slot. Now tighten the 2-bolts. The OFF-SET drive scheme means you can NOT install outta time. Amazing, eh?
When you check, replace, or adjust the points (0.015"), remember to polish the INVISIBLE CORROSION from between the points. Me? I clamp a clean $1-bill between the points and pull. Iff'n yer really cheap, tear a strip from HEAVY brown paper grocery sack and use that.
As the boys have reminded you, "clean, brite'n'tite" is the ONLY way to go with 6-volt systems. And yes, the original 6-volt starter motor is SLOOooow. Surprizingly enuff, you can JUMP the 6-volt starter motor with 12-volts from yer BelchFire-V8. ASK how. Use ONLY 'mericum made 0 or 00 (double-ought) thick as yer thumb starter motor cables. ........Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister and 12V advocate
