trying to figure out why my chainsaw won't stay running and i was hoping somebody here has the expertise or maybe has run into this before.
i bought it used and it wouldn't run more than 10-20 seconds. the fuel line was rotted and split and letting in air so i replaced it and that fixed it for a while. i haven't torn it down very far, but i'm wondering if it has a condensor that is getting hot? i fully dis-assembled and cleaned the carb, air, and fuel filters.
i bought a manual and adjusted the carb per factory specs, and it will run perfectly fine for maybe 15-20 minutes or more, until it's good and hot, then it loses power and dies.
i have to fully choke it, then go to half choke, and it will start back up and run for a minute and then die again. it bogs down quickly and dies as soon as you give it any throttle at all. if i start it at half choke it will stay running.
i've heard of adjusting chainsaw carbs until they "four stroke" and then back off a bit to get it right, what does that mean? thanks for any help, matt
