If it comes down to it and you have to pull the tractor and bell housing apart, try this and save a lot of time and its a one man job. Loose hood, radius rod, tie rod, etc. anything that will prevent you from move the engine and bellhousing about 2 ins. apart. Remove the bell housing bolts at 3:00 and 9:00. They are about 2 1/2 in. long. Install two 5 or 6 in. bolts to replace them. Not thight only firm. Remove the other bell housing bolts. This will allow you to pry the engine away an inch or so and will keep the clutch and shaft aligned. Shine a light in and place a flat metal between the shaft and clutch. Tighten the two bolts and pull the engine back into place. This will force the clutch to release. Takes 1 - 2 hours.

Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
