I'm 2 days in to a 2.25 day fencing project to fence off a nother paddock to get some grass to some hungry cows. have temprarilly sacrificed some parking and trailer turn around / hay storage area and will let the animals have at it this summer at least. so far have hung 4 gats with associated posts and braceing, set all my corner and brace posts, and banged in countless tposts.. I figure about 1380' or so.
got 4 strands of wire up, tensioned, etc.
just have to go back and fuss a few things around in 1 corner and at one egress gate before i turn the animals loose into it.
should be done tomorrow after breakfast... now te 'good' news... :)
i got up at 5 (again )and was putting up fence by 6am... got home at 11:10am to get cleaned up and head over to my nephew's HS graduation to find a gueyser in my backyard! a horse had stuck it's head sideways thru a gate to the well pump corall, got it stuck, pulled the gate off the hinges, broke the latch, then ran forward a bit apparrently, shearing off the plumbing at the pressure tank and well casing!!, then took off and eventually freed it's head way back in the pasture.
anyway. i got home.. saw the horse with a cut up face and neck.. saw the destruction and the gate at the back of the pasture, and the water gueyeser. then looked around and there is my neighbor setting out on his porch smoking a ciggarette... just watching.
anyway.. with no time to fix it I turned the gate valve off at the pump casing, grabbed aclean change of clothes from the house and ran to work and bathed in the mens bathroom stall using the sink and wahscloth ( mind you i looke dlike a refugee when i walked in.. torn dirty and wet blue jeans and a ratty shirt.. old leater boots.. sweeat soaked hat, and enought cuts on my hands and arms you'd think I'd been in a knife fight... :) amazing how efficient you can be in a bathroom stall with a washcloth, sing, hair comb and 5 minutes to get ready so you can make the drive to the graduation ceremony!.. made it to the graduation 5 minutes after the rest of the familly.. but in time to see it all.. stayed for an hour... hauled but to lowes.. got 3/4 and 1" pvc pipe sections as I wasn't sure how much of the line i'd have to dig up to find the break.. not to mention it's all 1" off the pump, then bushings to 3/4 after the pressure tank, water strainer, filter and hose bibs.. got some extra fittings and a new can of blue glue.. I always figure that's stuff's a gonner once you open the can once.. so I buy what I will need and figure on tossing after the single job is done.... came home, dug it all up, fixed.. let it cure and then pressurized it while I fed all the animals.. looks tight.... had previously wiped it down.. found no wet spots. Ideally i'd have let it set overnight.. but I only had a couple hours for it so let it go.. turned on the hose bib,after the filter, at the top of the line, befor ethe fixed section poured in some bleach to t he top of the line, closed it off, then opened the valve and pressureize dthe rest of the line and let the bleach flush into the house.. let it set 15 minutes then opened all faucetts and hose spigots, and let then flush about 15 minutes. then smelled for bleach.. figure good for now.. :) so i just now came in, now gonna take a real shower and head to work...
