Undoubtedly this subject has been dealt with about as much as any here. I"ve read the posts. However, I am looking for some clarification and direction on a few items if some of you great and experienced "old salts" can provide it. I have a nice "51 8N, about finished with a light restoration, lotsa new parts. I"m about done, and never considered the lift assy, but then noticed (of course after I had the tractor apart and painted, and back together)that in position control the lift is fine. Can even lift round bales. But in draft...nothing. If I hold the draft lever down, I get a little lift. So I pulled the lift cover, adjusted the springs, etc by the instructions in the IT manual, assembled and same result. I have the cover off again and probably something is bent. So here"s the question: Should the position mechanism snap and move away for draft control (mine doesn"t snap clear over) and does the position mechanism have no effect when in draft mode?
When installed and in draft mode, the lift control arm (long lever) doesn"t move the rocker lever close to what is pictured in the IT manual. It hardly moves at all, when feeling inside. The lift control arm doesn"t appear bent or arched; can it be bent up closer to the attachment point? I have pictures to send or post.

Today's Featured Article - Madison's County - by Anthony West. Philip Madison has been a good friend of mine for quite some time. Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
