This isn't "rocket science". Find out what's wrong, instead of simply "throwing parts at it" Start by taking the distributor off, and troubleshooting the points/ breaker plate assembly with an Ohmmeter. Check continuity from the special brass screw at the top that the coiled "spring thingy" beeath the coil sets down into (coil removed) to ground. Points "open"... NO continuity from the brass screw to gound (INFINITE resistance). Points "closed"... Continuity from the brass screw to ground (almost NO resistance). ANY other results indicate either a short to ground, bad points, or a broken brass strip leading to the points, or RARELY, a shorted condensor. Post back with what you find with your Ohmmeter expedition!
