I have not tried to remove the pilot bearing from my 8N but have removed them from other crankshafts by machining a shaft which fits the inside diameter of the bushing. Then fill the cavity with grease and use the shaft to hydraulic the bushing out by inserting it and hitting with a hammer. You'll be amazed how well it works.
