Hi Guys Need help with my wiring on the old 8N. It came with a conversion to a single wire to the alternator but it is not charging. I"m a nuby to the program and when I started tracing wires I found a nightmaire. There are cut wires every where. It looks like who ever did this just cut the old origional wires and left them there. I had the alternator checked and it is working. (It is a Delco-Ramy AZ # 2g20 12VB neg) I found the resistor All the wires are corroded. The tractor starts up immediately without any problems except the battery slowly goes dead. The ammeter doesn"t move at all. The battery will hold a charge. There is a cut wire comming off the top of the distributor. The 8N is a mid 47/48 (I think by the engine number: 8N130409) Hard to read. I think I have copied every thing you folks have written, but no diagram on single wire conversion. I better let you know I am a retired therapist and have limited knowledge about DC. If it were AC I wouldn"t have any trouble. I appreciate any help you can give me. Tom Z

It was on his farm that I learned to use the combination hand clutch and brake on a John D
