I have a Ford 9N tractor circa 1939. I have been working on an ignition (no spark) problem and I have discovered that what I seem to have is a 9N with the electrical wiring of an 8N. I have a 6 v. pos. ground system but I also have a generator with three posts (and wires) and a voltage regulator instead of a "cutout". Is this a common occurance to have this "conversion" on a 9N? Second question..... I purchased a new Pertronix electronic ignition system for my tractor. I removed the old style points, condenser, etc. and installed this new system and the tractor ran fine for a few hours. Then, all of a sudden, I had no spark, as mentioned above. I have removed the electronic system and reinstalled the points system but to no avail, still no spark. By the way, the tractor ran previously with the points installed before the change. I have had the coil checked at work and it checked out at 9.85 henrys and 2 rings. I am wondering what my next move should be. I expect the warranty replacement electronic system back in about a week but I would like to get the tractor running with the points installed also. Any and all advice/comments welcome. Thanks, Drew McLendon

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
