Hi David. You had a good day, in my opinion. I use my 3-pt scoop and boom all the time. I've used my boom many times to lift 350 and 400ci V8's out of a pickup bed and back them into my shop and down on a bench. It should handle the flathead 4 with no problems. Some booms have another hitch point for the lifting chain that's closer to the tractor. Use this one for really heavy loads if you find the nose of the tractor inching skyward when you go to lift. The scoop may only work in one direction if it's the older Dearborn type that looks like this: You can only scoop forward with this model, but it can still be useful and folks have actually used them to dig farm ponds. You can also use it to move a load of firewood or other material that you might use a wheel barrow for. You'll get creative with it after you get used to it and find it's pretty handy. I've even used mine to move my mother-in-law around with. I tried to use my boom, but she objected to me wrapping the chain around her neck for some strange reason??? Newer sccops can be reversed so that you can back into a pile of mulch/dirt/gravel/manure/peanut butter/miracle gel/etc. to load it up, then transport and dump. These kind will have 4 hitch pins instead of two to allow you to attach it to the tractor going forward or reverse. They look very similar to the older Dearborn scoop: Enjoy your new toys........Ed '52 8N475798

I’ve noticed a few questions in the comment section that could pertain to hydraulic cylinders so I thought we could take a short look at this real workhorse of the circuit. Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
