On old Chevy's with the window in the distributor to adjust the dwell angle, you would change the timing by changing the dwell (point gap). I would check and make sure your points are set correctly about .015". It's easy to take the front mount distributor off to set the points. Did someone take the timing gears off after it quit to check out the problem? If so, they could have put them back in out of time. I don't think the timing has jumped a gear. They are solid gears. Maybe some of the other N gurus will have other ideas. Danny
