Good to see your brand new tractor driver! :-) I was cleaning out some stuff that I moved to my new office from the old. Came across the pictures taken when we brought, first my son and then my daughter, home. MAN, they grow up FAST!! I had forgotten how small they were - until I got first grandchild (boy's boy). I don't remember my Dad paying with me, BUT there is a picture of him painting our house when I was around three. I am on a small ladder "painting" too. Of course, it was just water and I was where the paint was dry already. Just one example of how my Dad paid attention to mewhen I was little. And of course I remember all the teaching he did as I grew up. How to use a hammer, how to solder, I was around nine, how to torch weld, and on and on. Dad was a mechanical engineer but he was also very intrested in many other things. He was the "doctor" of the house. He taught me how to identify many trees, which sometimes amazes people that think fo me only as an engineer. All those teaching times were also "bonding" moments because it made me know my Dad cared enought for me that he would take the time to teach me away from ALL the other things he needed to do. I played with my son when he was small. I'm sure he dosen't remember but I have a picture of us riding on the back walk when he was around three. Like my Dad with me, the time I spent with Brice was the most important time of my life, excepting the time I spent with my daughter, of course. Brice never gave me any problems when he was a teenager. I feel sure it was the early "investment" paying off. SO be sure to spend as much time as you can with Will as you can. You will never regret it. And you can not later spend time to make up for the "lost" time when he is little. Think that is where so many parents today have gone wrong. When I hear of kids in trouble, and someone asks why don't the parents do something, I think "IT IS TOO LATE!" Sort of like trying to correct a crooked building that has been built on a bad foundation. Best wishes to your family for the season, Larry ps, ditto all of this for Charlie in TX. and Congrats, TOO.

Fire in the Field A hay fire is no laughing matter-well, maybe one was! And a good life-lesson, too. Following World War II many farm boys returned home both older and wiser. One such man was my employer the summer I was sixteen. He was a farmer by birth and a farmer by choice, and like many returning soldiers, he was our silent hero: without medals or decorations, but with a certain ability to survive. It was on his farm that I learned to use the combination hand clutch and brake on a John D
