Custer, I hope that I get to you befor you break the tractor apart again. I had a similar problem with my 51 8N years ago and spent big bucks for all new clutch. The old one was fine but I put in the new stuff anyway. NO CLUTCH! My local Ford dealer (before FNH) said to check the external linkage. I did. It was split on the underside. When the pedal was released it would close, When the pedal was depresed, it would open and not rotate the shaft to the throwout bearing. With the wheels blocked and the engine off, lay underneath while someone depresses the pedal and look for a split. I keep the old part on the shelf as a reminder.
