#1 plug fouling

My 8N has a tendency to foul the plug on the #1 cylinder closest to the fan. The plug fouls with a dark and powdery carbon residue, but thankfully no oil. All my other cylinders burn nicely. Eventually after 30 hrs or so the plugs has so much carbon that it begins to miss fire and creates problems. What would be the cause of this? Thanks to all in advance!
