You polarize by taking a jumper wire and connecting one end to the bat terminal of the vr. and touch the other end to the gen terminal of the vr. Under no circumstances touch the other end to the field terminal of the vr. This could damage it. When you remove the jumper you will notice a spark. This is normal. Happy Motoring Claus
