On my 48 8N's rocker a previous owner adjusted the back of the bottom slot with a ballpeen hammer so the ball would fit. The rocker is also different than any I have seen pictured here or on other tractors. It has a hole on the same plane as the spring, another set above that and a set below. The lower hole set is not wide enough for an adjustable toplink. I once saw a non adjustable toplink in a store that looked like it would fit and the tag said it fit most older Ford tractors. After checking the exact width of the lower hole I went back to purchase it but is was gone.
