We have successfully ran msd ignition boxes on propane engines for years. Propane requires good ignition components as gaseous fuel is harder to get to light than a liquid fuel. MM tractors have not ever been accused of having overly powerful ignition systems. Have you ever noticed how most MM LP tractors will have a random misfire at idle? This is caused by a combination of issues which is worsened by cold spark plugs. In our experience msd boxes have completely cured these issues. I would recommend a more powerful coil as well. We have had good luck with a late 80's Ford E coils. The msd box will not increase available voltage to the plugs but will provide a multiple spark discharge (MSD). This allows more oppurtunity for the plug to light off the fuel mixture in the cylinder which helps eliminate misfires. I would further recommend upgrading to electronic ignition over points and verification of your ignition timing. As I recall the msd will move your timing a little. The upgrade from points only helps accurate timing events,(we ran a 1355 w msd and points for years). I hope I havent been to long winded. I can think of a few common, ordinary sounds in my daily life, too.
