There have been several varieties of these remote adapaters, made by different companies as well as by MF.
The manual you need is form 690 562 M3. Cost 75 cents in 1972. Its called "OPERATOR'S MANUAL. Basic & Auxiliary Hydraulic systems for MF 130 through MF180 tractors." Its been posted on the internet with the file name: "mf130-180aux-hydraulics.pdf" Google should turn it up instantly.
The way mine works (made by Cross) is that the left handle has three positions. Pulled back it lowers the three point. Mid position, it locks the three point and enables the right remote(s). The remote only works (as does 3 point rising) when the pump is pumping which requires the original controls to be full up. (constant pumping position). The left handle pushed forward (and mine has a detent in that position) the three point rises if the original controls are set for constant pumping, but the three point also responds to the lift and draft controls as if the auxiliary valve was not present.
Generally the original controls require the one that is to be in charge sets the position or the draft and the other is set higher. One control sets height, the other sets the draft, mainly for plowing. The draft control causes the three point to lift the plow in tougher soil and so keeps the driver from having to shift down to maintain the same plow depth in sticky soil. Those original controls control the pump.
