Fixing a multipower transmission is not always terribly expensive. I just completed repairing a 175 multipower transmission last month. The problem with it turned out to be a bad aux. pump. Cost for the pump was around $400. While inside I replaced some seals and the multipower clutch discs. The old disc looked as good as new but I replaced them any way. The disc are not that expensive. In my opinion it is more of a labor intesive job rather than the cost of parts. If you can do the work yourself and have the time it is not that bad. You may find that it is something simple. Have you done a pressure test? There should be a test port where the supply line exits the transmission housing and goes to the oil cooler upfront. There is also a hose that runs through the transmission housing that can break or leak and cause low pressure. Also there is a control and relief valve that is located in the bellhousing that can give trouble. It is a very simple device and easily rebuilt. This control valve is controled by a linkage that runs to the control lever on the dash. If this linkage is worn or not adjusted correctly it can cause problems.
