I took the air cleaner tower off the tractor and soaked it in a 5 gallon bucket of kerosene.
Rinsed it out over and over until the kerosene ran clean. Let it drip and air dry for about 8 hrs. Fresh oil in the air filter cup and you should be good to go.
I would not try to take the wire mesh material out of the air filter tower to clean it, just soak it.
