As long as I can pull it all out from the front (I will have to unscrew the hydraulic pump shaft too) but then I was thinking I could pull the pin far enough forward to slide the shims and washer down in, then reinstall the pin.
My plan for the keeper bolt was to take a grade 8 bolt, turn the end to essentially make a slightly tapered dowel pin. Weld a nut on the axle, then I should be able to screw the bolt in to the pin and cinch it down.
I think that will work? I don't think I will have to take the whole axle out, maybe lift it up.
The most frustrating part is I had the whole thing apart twice, but in haste didn't fix it completely right. now I want to at least try to long term fix it.
